Film Speed and Flash
Taking photos of jack-o’-lanterns isn’t difficult, but there are tricks to capturing shots with all the drama and interest your eye sees. Here are a few pointers:
Tip 1: Use fast film. Because you’ll be working in low-light situations, it’s best to choose a film with an ISO of at least 400.
Tip 2: Turn off your flash. A bright burst of light will destroy the glow emanating from lit pumpkins, so it’s best to shut off the flash and let the flame light the scene. If possible, place more than one candle inside to boost the amount of light.
