Painting
design by Erin Terrell
Paint is an easy and affordable way to change the look of metal pieces. On this layout, Erin used acrylic paint and spray paint to change the look of the metal page accents. She applied an even coat of white spray paint to the metal mesh used on the left side of the page and then coated the screw-head eyelets and stencil letters with white acrylic paint. Erin sanded the metal flowers before coating them with orange acrylic paint; sanding helps the paint adhere to the slick surface. She sanded them again once the paint had dried to give them a worn appearance. The metal stencil letter, heart-shape charm, and metal oval on the tag also were coated with acrylic paint. Once they were dry, Erin sanded the edges of the oval to reveal the metal surface below.
