Myth #2
You can use only vintage or found objects in collage.
design by Erin Terrell
While all the reproduction vintage elements now on the market make it easier to use items with an aged look, you are not limited to “old” embellishments. You can give modern, scrapbook-safe items an aged look with various distressing methods. Use sandpaper to roughen the surfaces of papers or stickers, or simply crumple them to distress them. You can use walnut ink or stamping inks to create an aged look. But it’s not necessary for items to look old when you’re creating a collage-style layout. New items work very well as embellishments with the modern photos and design of the layout.
