Focus In and Make a Tight Crop

Alison took this portrait of her son the day after his tenth birthday as a way of documenting him at that age. The indoor shot is cropped close and focuses tightly on the boy to lessen the distractions in the background.

Camera: Canon EOS 10D. ISO 400. Lens: 50 mm. Exposure: 1/45. Aperture: f1.8. Lighting: Indoors, window light.
